    一、概覽

    耶魯大學(xué)由最初設(shè)立時(shí)僅為一所旨在培養(yǎng)神職人員的小小教會學(xué)校，由當(dāng)時(shí)的一位校長、一位教師、一名學(xué)生、一座校舍，發(fā)展到300多年后的今天，校園占地123公頃，運(yùn)動場所占地40公頃，還另有高爾夫球場和自然保護(hù)場地208公頃。

    申請耶魯大學(xué)的學(xué)生，在英語理解方面必須能達(dá)到：在講話速度較快的時(shí)候也能理解對方所講內(nèi)容，同時(shí)要求他們具備理解地道英語習(xí)慣用語的能力。在學(xué)生自我表達(dá)能力方面，要求口語和寫作能力要達(dá)到能輕松自如進(jìn)行表達(dá)。

    作為對英語能力評估的一部分，耶魯大學(xué)要求，每一個非英語母語申請者或在過去四年的學(xué)習(xí)期間主要授課語言不是英語者，均必須參加托�？荚�。老托福最低要求分?jǐn)?shù)為600分，機(jī)考最低要求分?jǐn)?shù)為250分，新托福最低要求分?jǐn)?shù)為100分。耶魯大學(xué)不接受SAT2英語水平考試。

    WRITING

    Short Answer Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below or on an attached sheet (150 words or fewer).

    Personal Essay Please write an essay (250 words minimum) on a topic of your choice or on one of the options listed below, and attach it to your application before submission. Please indicate your topic by checking the appropriate box. This personal essay helps us become acquainted with you as a person and student, apart from courses, grades, test scores, and other objective data. It will also demonstrate your ability to organize your thoughts and express yourself.

    推薦信是每所學(xué)校在招收學(xué)生時(shí)必須的材料文書之一，也是學(xué)校招生的重要依據(jù)。

    推薦信需要多少封？

    推薦信的作用是讓學(xué)校在沒有接觸過學(xué)生的情況下，從多角度了解申請者，對其有更立體的了解，學(xué)校一般會要求申請者提供2－4封推薦信，如果沒有要求，建議最好提交2－3封推薦信。

    誰最適合做推薦人？

    推薦信的目的在藉由申請人外的第三者，就申請人的特質(zhì)、能力和態(tài)度做評估，作為學(xué)校審核申請者的一種參考。是能從第三者的客觀角度評估申請者的文件，所以占有重要的地位。選擇越權(quán)威的人物為自己做推薦越能提升你的形象，也可以選擇特別熟悉的人作為你的推薦人，如果家中的親戚是某些方面的權(quán)威，也可以是不錯的推薦人。

    推薦信寫什么？

    重點(diǎn)明確的簡歷可以突出申請者自身的閃光點(diǎn)，吸引招生人員的注意，達(dá)到意想不到的效果，為獲得獎學(xué)金和入學(xué)資格贏得先機(jī)。

    常見的PS格式有三種，第一種是自傳式:就是把你從小到大的經(jīng)歷分重點(diǎn)主次描述一番，表明你的能力；第二種是敘事式:就是國外的PS常用的風(fēng)格，以一件事情切題引出全文，談?wù)勛约旱母惺埽坏谌�種是專業(yè)式:文章的中心放在自己對專業(yè)的認(rèn)識上，介紹自己的專業(yè)經(jīng)歷背景，體現(xiàn)自己的研究能力，對于大學(xué)申請前兩種方式較為常用。

    PS的主題

    PS的主題當(dāng)然是你的申請動機(jī)，如何更好的體現(xiàn)出你的這個主題呢？其實(shí)可以考慮從自己的某個特點(diǎn)出發(fā)如不服輸追求挑戰(zhàn)之類的精神，或者是上進(jìn)精神，在逆境中奮起的精神等等來表現(xiàn)申請的主題，可以根據(jù)自己的特點(diǎn)和長處提煉出能更好的體現(xiàn)主題的內(nèi)容。

    PS的內(nèi)容

    PS是需要有足夠的內(nèi)容來支撐主題的，就如你要寫一篇議論文來證明你是否有足夠的優(yōu)勢進(jìn)入你所申請的學(xué)校。你可以嘗試在PS中回答相關(guān)問題：

    1.你為什么對這個專業(yè)感興趣？

    2.什么事情使得你對這個專業(yè)的興趣逐漸加深并且達(dá)到頂峰？

    3.有沒有一些具體的研究經(jīng)歷、研究項(xiàng)目吸引了你呢？
