IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS OF GEOS COLLEGES ON STUDENT VISAS

•The GEOS English Colleges and St Marks International Colleges have closed and will no longer be teaching overseas students.

•The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) is arranging meetings for students on a student visa as soon as possible to advise you of what steps are being taken to help you continue your studies as quickly as possible. Please note that this is different from the meetings organised by the administrators of the GEOS College Group, Ernst and Young.

•You will be advised of the details of your meeting by SMS and/or email. Please ensure that you check your messages regularly and pass on all information to your friends and classmates.

•Details of meetings arranged are attached to this notice and will be added to as arrangements are finalised.

•Please note the important information below and check the ESOS Website at http://www.aei.gov.au/ESOS regularly for further information.

•Australian law (the ESOS Act) outlines arrangements to ensure that students who have come to Australia to study on a student visa are protected. DEEWR oversees the three levels of consumer protection.

The first level of protection is that the provider should pay each student a refund of course fees. Ernst and Young, the administrators of the GEOS Colleges, have told DEEWR that the Colleges will not be able to pay refunds to students.

The second level of protection is the tuition assurance scheme. Your colleges are members of tuition assurance schemes, which are now required to offer you a suitable alternative course. At your new college, you will not be required to pay extra money if you have already paid money in advance to your college.

If your tuition assurance scheme is unable to place you in a suitable alternative course then the third level of consumer protection may assist you. The ESOS Assurance Fund may offer you a place in a suitable alternative course. If the Assurance Fund is unable to place you in a suitable alternative course you may be eligible for a refund.

•You do not need to enrol yourself in another course at this time. If you choose to enrol yourself in another course, please be aware this may affect your right to assistance from the tuition assurance schemes or the ESOS Assurance Fund. Arrangements are being made to place you in another course as soon as possible.

•You should keep all records concerning your enrolment at your college including receipts and academic records.

澳大利亞《海外學(xué)生教育服務(wù)法案》（ESOS）確保持學(xué)生簽證赴澳留學(xué)的國(guó)際學(xué)生的權(quán)益受到澳大利亞法律的保護(hù)，為此ESOS 還制定了具體的措施。澳大利亞教育、就業(yè)和勞動(dòng)關(guān)系部監(jiān)察三個(gè)層面消費(fèi)權(quán)益保護(hù)措施的執(zhí)行情況：

第一層面的保護(hù)措施就是要求GEOS 教育集團(tuán)旗下的學(xué)校返還國(guó)際學(xué)生所支付的學(xué)費(fèi)。來自安永會(huì)計(jì)師事務(wù)所的審核人員告知澳大利亞教育、就業(yè)和勞動(dòng)關(guān)系部，該日資背景的GEOS 教育集團(tuán)旗下的學(xué)�，F(xiàn)已無法返還國(guó)際學(xué)生所支付的學(xué)費(fèi)。

第二層面的保護(hù)措施就是學(xué)籍保障計(jì)劃（TAS）。GEOS 教育集團(tuán)旗下的學(xué)校都是學(xué)籍保障計(jì)劃的會(huì)員院校，根據(jù)學(xué)籍保障計(jì)劃，學(xué)校將為學(xué)生安排合適的替代課程。如果學(xué)生已向原學(xué)校繳納學(xué)費(fèi)，則無須向新學(xué)校支付額外學(xué)費(fèi)。

如果無法在學(xué)籍保障計(jì)劃下為國(guó)際學(xué)生安排合適的替代課程，那么第三層面的保護(hù)措施將為國(guó)際學(xué)生提供協(xié)助。在此情況下，將通過《海外學(xué)生教育服務(wù)法案》保障基金來為學(xué)生安排合適的替代課程。如果《海外學(xué)生教育服務(wù)法案》保障基金無法為國(guó)際學(xué)生安排合適的替代課程，那么國(guó)際學(xué)生有權(quán)要求退還學(xué)費(fèi)。

現(xiàn)階段，國(guó)際學(xué)生無需自行聯(lián)系新學(xué)校。如果學(xué)生自行聯(lián)系轉(zhuǎn)讀其他學(xué)校，請(qǐng)注意這可能會(huì)影響到學(xué)生主張根據(jù)學(xué)籍保障計(jì)劃或通過《海外學(xué)生教育服務(wù)法案》保障基金安排轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)安置的權(quán)力。
